what causes overheating after milling the heads?

what causes overheating after milling the heads? i have a GTO installed tr224 and milled the heads a lil bit and there was a noticable raise in temp. what causes that? and am i going the see the same thing when i buy pp heads with smaller cc 64 (stock is 68) ? need help before i buy those heads btw they are not milled ..

I don't know if it would make a difference but if you used factory head gasket it could be possible to get them installed on the wrong side. There are small 1/8" holes around the water jacket except for # 7 and #8 cylinder which have larger openings on the back side (On LS1 I don't know about LS2). The "this side up" can still be up but "front" will be in the back. Just a thought. I don't know if that will cause it to run hotter.
Or maybe the thermostat started sticking since you probably drained the coolant system to change the heads.
