Default Can the stock main bolts be reused?

I'm having an engine built and I have heard conflicting info. on re-using the stock main bolts. Is this normal practice or should I buy new gm ones.
It's a forged 348ci

Thanks
Frank

No, they are torque to yeild bolts, buy new ones from GM or get some reusable ARP main bolts. Same goes for the rod and head bolts.

Big Mike had stock bolts (head and main) along with a stock crank in his 346, and it held together for repeated 300 shot poundings. I think the design of the engine/bolt placement is more of a factor than bolt grade, not saying bolt grade isn't important though.

Although I might not have worded it that way, I completely agree.
