car smokes at idle

car smokes at idle ok this is for my girlfriends car, its a 98 eclipse, yeah i know pos but still. i didnt know if there was another forum to post this in so mods if there is sorry and please redirect this thread.
at idle the car smokes sometimes very very bad. sometimes it wont. i put a thicker oil in it and lucas additive. helped a lot but it smoked on her again the other day when she was idling talkin to me. when she gives it gas it clears up a little bit but smokes a little bit but idle is real bad. i dont know if the rings are shot or what but she doesnt drive the **** out of the car at all. i was wondering if maybe some valve seals or something since it was at idle a lot, but then again i really dont know thats why im asking about it. let me know what you guys think. if its something on the top end that i can do ill do it but if its tearing appart the bottom end ill let someone else mess with that haha. let me knwo what you all think, like i said sorry if its the wrong spot
