Default TTP V.3 Cam install on a 97c5

Well, I picked up my 97 c5 from TTp with their V.3 Cam insalled. uncorrected it made 405rwhp/389rwtq. That was with an Ls6 intake, Slp headers(w/Cats)/Borla Stingers. It makes power, i dont care for the idle. The experience with TTp was ok. The things I liked about them were as follows: Clean shop. Friendly Service, Very Knowlegable, and they stayed at the shop till 1030pm on a sat. night to dyno tune the car for me. (Took 7 pulls on the wide band.) The things I didnt like about their service. The car was dropped off on a tuesday, and promised delivery on a Friday. They didnt have the car assembled till 6pm on Saturday night. When removing my front swaybar links, they broke them (plastic). they replaced them with Z06 metal ones and charged me for them. Now thats is a debatable subject, over $40 bucks its no big deal.IMO if a shop breaks something, they should foot the bill for it. The pulley was removed from the car before TTP removed it for the install. WHom ever did it F_cked up the pulley bolt. I had to wait for them to tap the hole, and find a g8 bolt from a lowes in Jersey city and replace the 21mm bolt with a 3/4g8bolt. I think they should have realized that the bolt/threads were bad the day before when they removed the pulley, not when they were putting it back on. Oh and what really pissed me off was that my front seal was leaking oil after the last dyno pull. But what is very cool is that Matt said that he will replace it at anytime according to my schedual. With Just a days notice to bring it in.

J

John: First off, you should come to me with any complaints that you have before running to the bulletin boards.

The car would have been done on time if not for the threads from the old crank pulley bolt were f**ked in plain english. I GAVE YOU THE OPTION OF LEAVING THE CAR WITH US TO FIX THE PROBLEM CORRECTLY WITH THE PROPER TAP. You did not want to leave the car to have the proper work done so you opted to do the 3/4 bolt. Once again, which I did not recommend. I had my Snap-On guy stop by and unfortunately he did not have the tap. I offered to buy it from him which he could not get until Tuesday and you refused.

We stayed until 10pm that night to get the car done and there was an oil leak. I told you I did not want you to take the car but you insisted on taking the car. Most shops, or should I say anyone in their right mind, would have said sorry we close at 2pm that day. I did everything in my power to get the car done.

Then you brought the car back in and I gave you the option of coming in whenever was convenient and got to it ASAP. Its not my fault that the car was hacked up before we touched it. I could have then charged you for pulling everything apart and putting it back together which was another few hours.

Your crank pulley was hammered on by some moron that had the pulley off in the first place. It was very obvious that the pulley was off first. There would be no reason to believe that the threads were messed up in the first place. And if you would have given us a chance to fix it correctly you would have the GM bolt in there and this wouldn't be an issue.

my front seal was leaking oil after the last dyno pull
The front seal was in perfect condition when removed. The problem with the oil leak was his crank pulley had a bad groove around the whole outside that was allowing oil to pass through. We sandpapered down the groove and reinstalled it. Also changed the front seal one more time for free since we already removed it for inspection.

Unfortunately there are a lot of inefficiences in this business. The crank pulley bolt was not my problem, as I told you I could have banged you for the hour labor it took to replace the bolt and the bolt. Instead I did not charge for either.

Bottom line, I gave you my price $40 (Actually less than my price of 42.51) on the z06 end links. On a 9 year old car things break, plain and simple we did not cause them to break.

Concerning the scratch on your mirror. I did not notice it when it was dropped off, I still do not know where the scratch could have came from. I also told you that I would fix it no problem, but you said no problem I'll do it myself.

And of course the car was filthy when i picked it up.
So? The car was dirty... I can't do anything about the elements so I don't even know why you would bring this up.

Anyone has any questions on this matter feel free to call me 973-365-2270.

If you really think we did such a horrible thing with charging you for the end links then why don't we add up the labor to fix everything we fixed for free. Retap for new crank pulley bolt $100, $6.00 for bolt. Teardown labor for crank pulley install $150, $32.50 for 1/2 labor to remove groove in pulley, $17.95 for front timing cover seal = $306.25... I don't think you made it too bad for everything done for $0.00.

.
How many posts are you going to make badmouthing a sponsor for things which appears to be 80% your fault?

I would suggest deleting one of the threads unless you want the mods to delete both of them for you.

P.S. If the shop gives YOU the decision, and YOU decide to do it ... it is not their fault, and is not something to complain about. You're giving a good shop a bad name because of your decisions.

There is nothing wrong with someone voicing their opinion, just make sure it is the whole story.

Yup, seems like key parts were left out.

The only things I see wrong here were

1. The length of time it took to do the install.
2. The paint .... if it wasn't already there.

Other then that, it seems like they really tried to get everything done for you.
