Talking Oil Pump/Chain Install Question

Do you need to lower the oil pan to install an oil pump-double chain? I am installing an cam-springs-pump next week and was wondering if I needed to place the car on ramps first. It would probally be easier if I did not have to have it on ramps- as far as getting to the valve springs. The cam install instructions I have does not place the car on ramps but they do not replace the pump.

Thanks.
Bill

Yeah, you remove all pan bolts but the rear 2. Stuff rags in the pan and between the block and pan to keep it in place. Loosen the 2 10mm bolts holding the pickup tube to the pump and walla, you can now pull the oil pump straight out, after loosening the bolts of course, then pull the crank sprocket off for replacement.

There's only 1 10 mm bolt holding the pickup tube.

Follow ls1howto.com. With jmx's instructions you can't go wrong.

You'll need to jack up the car because to unclip the fans wire harness, remove pulley, and even change the oil pump requires that you get under the car.
btw, I put my car on stands and didn't have a problem changing springs.
