3 quick questions about cams.
1) I am working on my third tranny right now and I don't have the money to replace another one if this one breaks right now. I want a nice cam that makes decent power with good low end torque, and is going to be easy on the engine. I am not going to put a TC back in for a long time.
2) What are the stock cam specs.
3) What is the hotcam. I have seen a million refrences to it, but who makes it and what is its specs.
Thanks

the stock specs are like 198/202 @.050 .498/.498 lift
GM makes the hot cam. Not sure of the exact specs but, I wouldn't use it. It's the oldest, most out dated cam made for the LS-1.

198/197 .472/.479 115 LSA
I'm pretty sure about the lift numbers, because I miked mine when I pulled it out of my motor.
Specs for the GMPP Hot Cam are:
218/227 .525/.525 112 LSA
The Hot Cam kit is cheap, but as stated above, you can do much better. If money is an issue, it would be worth waiting to get something with faster ramps that will give you better low end torque and improved streetability.
For your new cam, let me sugest the TR224 on 114 LSA. I had this cam for a couple years, and loved it.
