Default Head Chamber Question

We All know what cc the heads are that give us our compression. as far as the ls1,ls6,lq4 go heads and the different piston used in the ls1,ls6,lq4's compared to the lq9 as far as piston distance from the deck goes. Now just talking heads are the mills the same, or are they factory milled to acheive these desired CC's on these heads

the reason for on calculating the Valve distance. milling the heads brings the valve closer to the piston, and other methods is less or more cc's of just chamber designs in changing the cc's. so as far as this heads go which is it...

I'd hate to change the heads and end up with clearnce issues with my big

i believe there all cast with the desired CC, no mill from the factory deck.

this would be a good thing to know. Changing the compression without bringing the valves closer to the piston

I was told the valve drop onthe 5.3 heads compared to the 5.7 heads is .030"

Which is pretty close to what you'd have to mill the 5.7 heads to get the equivelent CR (makes sense) the advantage would be the 5.3 will retain the OEM valve geometry and bump the CR.

Don't know about the LS6 or LQ9s

so as far as the 5.3 heads go their milled .030
now we gotta figure out if thats the same that goes for the 5.7 to 6.0 heads

5.3s are not milled .030, the chamber ceiling is .030 lower. I.E the valve train gemoetry is not .030 lower.

So the distance from surface(deck bottom) to the valve is that same, so it wouldn't change PVC. just differnet chamber. or is the valve lowered .030 with the ceiling like you mentioned and so it would actually bring the valve to the piston closer still with out changing the geometry

basicly i cant change my PVC it has to stay the same or further away. and need to know if changing the heads on my lq4 would effect my piston to valve clearance, or just compression from the 5.7s or 5.3
