Default gotta head cam question

how does this soundon a 2001 a4 z28? a futral fm13 cam on a 114 lsa with ported ls6 heads(open to suggestion). going to be adding qtp lts with the cats to go with my gmmg.i also plan on adding 3.73s and a lid.what else is recommended as far as intake mods such as tb and maf and things like that.my goal is to be over 400 at the wheels. some local 04 gt threw on a vortec s-trim and is throwin down 400. so i wanna beat him.

i know a tc would be one of the best mods i could do but i kinda wanted to wait to see if i stay auto pr not because i am seriously thinking og goin m6. but its gonna be a while before i touch the tranny as it is still under gm warranty for a few more months. its freshly rebuilt about 4 months ago.

Wow... automatic people putting power first and TC later.

I fight this battle with a friend of mine all the time.. hes added all the bolt ons before hes done a TC.. and still doesn't want to do a TC.

Hey zee man.. my cousin lives out there in Douglasville.... have some friends out there too. Nice area.

i dont see 400rwhp being a problem with that combo, its just that with stock TC you'll take forever to get into the powerband. i'd probaly go ~3600 myself

well not really, the tranny was rebuilt by a dealer so it carries a 1 year warranty. but ur saying is either bet an m6 or a decently big stall?

Yeah, with the A4 you'll wonder about that conversion, it's very appealing. Now I am going to do a conversion; however, I am going to put a TCI SSF 3000 on the car around the same time I install the heads/cam or atleast just the cam. Will convert when the time and money are right, and get my 12 bolt at the same time of the conversion.

thats the thing though jrp. you know the IRS stang guys always want go from a roll, not a dig, so do i then. And ive had my car almost a year and never been to the track and more than likely all my races will be from a roll so i would benefit even more from being able to downshift and get in that powerband. besides once i learn how to lauch an m6 it would be nasty.

personally i'd do the conversion, its m6 or nothing for me . you just need to weigh the pro's and cons of both and make the decision for yourself.

with the power you'll be making though you'll have to worry about your rearend more then you would with the automatic.

The torque converter will help you with that. When installed and tuned and what not, the deadspot in the tranny is 100% eliminated, torque management may be deleted and the TORQUE CONVERTER will put the power to the wheels much more efficiently and quickly then stock....if im not mistaken Yanks comparisson says that Yank has a 97% top end efficiency where stock has about a 90% (seems like the aftermarket can be had at higher speeds)

So are you saying it's better to spend the money on the rearend (m6) BEFORE
heads and cam? And since he's in a A4, all he needs is a tc, then he's set.
Right?

Instead of spending the 3G's on a 12 bolt i spooled mine up with 33 spline axles and got a new girdle with a 4.10.. It will take away alot of diveability but i still drive it almost everyday and it was a hell of alot cheaper, and strong as hell and im throwing way more then 400 at the tire.
