Default engine knocking

today i was on my way to the carwash and i heard a knocking sound so i turned around and went back home. i cut the car off and checked the oil it was low a half squart and i just changed my oil last saturday. so i tried to crank it back up and it wouldint start. i finaly got it started and it sounded horrible the engine was knocking and making all kinds of weird noises and the oil pressure gauge was reading zero. so i called a couple of local mechanics and they said that it was the oil pump but since it got to the point that it was knocking the engine is fucked.

what do you guys think. the car also has 150K on it

it sounds like your engine is exactly what your mechanics said.... Fucked. but don't let this get you down; now you have a good excuse to build a strong bottom end and an improved valve train. Besides, you already got 150K miles out of that LS1.

Sad to here another story of these crappy oil pumps failing. Doesn't sound too good to me either. Are you throwing any codes? Any chance to see what your A/F is now?

98 to 2000 oil pumps do have problems w/ the relief valve sticking open and causing 0 pressure, mainly on start up. Was it running fine until this point?
