Default header advice

I have a 99 z28 and plan on buying headers n exhaust for it. I would some advice on what brands to buy and what all i need to buy. Try not to get 2 expensive but good quality

I can't believe noone hasn't jumped on the "do a search" thing LOL. I'll gladly help you out my man. I would go with the Pacesetter longtubes and TSP's ORY. Personally I would also get the Race headers and do away with the EGR and AIR. Definately get the ceramic coated ones. You'll need O2 extensions since the O2s will be located further back and the harness isn't long enough to reach. Reuse the factory metal gaskets, clean the threads on the factory bolts and reuse them as well. You will either have to buy O2 simulators or have someone with LS1 Edit or HP Tuners turn off your rear O2s or you'll get a SES light. It won't effect performance however.

About the price. Texas Speed and Performance consistantly have the best pricing I have found and are a sponsor as well. The headers ceramic coated will run you $374.95. The off road Y pipe is $145 for TSPs. The O2 extensions are about $25 bucks each and you'll need 2. Go ahead and order up a set of NGK TR55 plugs for the car and install them when you do the install. They run about $2 a plug. Gap them at .050-.055.

As far as a good catback is concerned the Hooker is hard to beat in quality, sound, and performance. At $289 you can't go wrong.

I have actually told you to get exactly what I plan on running on my own car, so it's all quality, great bang for the buck parts. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I will do mine in another week..... Reusing the exhaust gaskets makes me nervous. Has anyone had any problems with exhaust leaks. I thought it was standard to replace exhaust gaskets? I got bout 65k on the odometer.

When I did the headers on my other car EVERYONE recommended reusing the factory metal gaskets. I had no problems whatsoever. The car only had 16,000 miles on it though. If your leary I would buy new factory metal gaskets, not the cheap ones the headers usually come with.

I plan on doing EXACTLY what Brian has already said. I've done countless hours of research on it. The Hooker CB is in the mail and the other parts are not far off.

It all depends on the cash you got on you.
I bought a set of hooker lt's with a Y from Tbryne when they had a big sale. they get installed next week =)
