Default Cam question

i have a 99 z28 pretty much stock except for a lid and exhaust and was wondering which cam would give me a good hp gain but not with a loud loping noise a little lope is okay, for a reasonable price

I'd say if you're just wanting to throw a cam in there and not do anything else go with a TR220. A 224 or bigger (really any cam) needs headers to help it produce its best hp.

you need to post this in the internal engine section since this is the wrong section.
but anyways, read JRP's cam guide, it's very helpful for someone who doesn't know much about cams. IMO, you better do headers, intake, and more bolt ons before a cam or you won't gain as much hp as you would like. But after the normal bolt ons, cams are one of the best bang for a buck as far as gains go (except they are expensive to install if you can't do it yourself). TR224 is a really good street cam and one of the most common i'd say... good luck
