Default EGR Mod

When I removed the EGR pipe from the intake manifold, the rubber O-ring gasket popped out on the engine. Did the mod, then I started to install the EGR pipe back and noticed the O-ring is not the same on both sides or top and bottom, so to speak. One side is solid, flip it over and it is grooved. Yet when I slide it over the pipe, it appears it would not make any difference. Looked down into the intake also appears it would not make any difference.
Does anyone recall which way I need to install the O-ring gasket?
Solid side towards the ground or pointed up pipe side?

Also, bought a new O-ring after reading the install guide at installuniversity but the factory O-ring was still good. $11.32 for the O-ring, bend over!
Thanks

Anybody? As bad as the o-ring is prone to leak I was hoping to orient the o-ring gasket right the fitst time.
Thanks

Yep, I finally figured it out Sunday after looking at the intake again. Finished installing a ported TB and definitely a seat of the pants noticeable gain.
Anywho, thanks for replying Full-Force!
