Putting a cam and heads in the '99Z with 60K. Should I get sprockets with the LS2 chain? Don't drag race but have been know to run the car through the gears. I would assume you need to get gears, that's what I have done on sbc's. I read here just getting the chain. Learning new things. Thanks for some help.

 

I think youll be fine with just the chain. Im just getting the chain @ an estimated 75K miles when i finally do the swap.

Can someone tell me why? There hardend comepared to the ones on my sbc? Or cahanging them is overrated to start with? Have searched and I have read you probably don't need sprockets. But there isn't a reason. Thanks

 

While sprockets can wear, its very slight. Chains on the other hand can stretch. The stretching of the chain is far more apparent over time.
