Default AFR head only swap. questions inside

I have purchased a set of AFR 205cc, and will be installing just them on to a 2004 GTO with the following Mods

Lingenfelter CAI
MTI 78mm TB
ASP pulley
Dynatech LT headers
Flowmaster Exhaust
224/228 .581/.588 113lsa Comp Cam

my setup as it sits makes

386/351

Next thurday I will have the AFR installed and Tuned, So I can give people a estimate on what to expect from AFR's on a moddified LS1.

my questions are as follows:

1. what should I mill the Head?

2. What size Head gaskets to use?

I will be running 93 octane, and want reliability over max power. So I want the most compression I can get...safely

Also I will be tunning the car on the same dyno with the same tunner

Mill the heads to 62 cc's (about an .025 flatmill).

Run an aftermarket thinner gasket....we sell an .040 Cometic that works great with our heads....It is AFR PN 6846

That should give you right at or slightly over 11 to 1 based on how far your stock pistons are out of the hole...with 93 octane available you should have no issues running that much CR on the street.

Good luck with the AFR's....be sure to share your driving impressions and results with us.

Typero149 --Good luck.
Tony, I am trying to get on a dyno Friday before I post my "AFR thread" but with the addition of the milled AFR's and the LS6 Intake (for whatever it's worth) it is a different car. It really comes on the cam around 2,800 now. I mean really comes on the cam, it did not do that before. The best way to put it is it is now "barrelling out of control" in 1st gear from 3,000-to redline. The torque is insane, I need bigger brakes now. My wife was literally scared. I can only run it up to about 3,500 in second gear before I have to push the clutch in and look around for cops. Anyway the car is back down awaiting an oil change.

Make sure you cut the "nipple" off the rocker arm bolts or they will protrude into the intake ports about 1/4". It is the round part at the base of the bolt that is like a bulb and just where the threads end.

Don't make this mistake. I did.
