Default LS1 , Cubic inch question

hello . i am building a 69 camaro convertible. i plan to use either a magnacharger or a turbo. i would like to have at least 600hp . i do not however want a stock ls1 displacement . i am wondering what to use . could anyone give me some insight on a combination to use with this . heads , cam , rotating assembly, etc...

if you want to use an ls1 block i would go 383 (same bore, stroker crank) if you want an ls2 (aluminum) or lq9 (iron) you can do a 402-408...you could also resleeve the ls1 for a 427 big$$$ or get a c5r block real big $$$ like 6,000 for block alone

All very viable options, but for 600hp a simple 402 iron block will do the trick, with pretty much any F/I you put on it.

that would be my route as well...except i think i'm going to hold out till the ls2 knock sensor problem is fixed...then get an aluminum 408...if i need it before then i'm going to get hpe's 408

you can 383 stroker, 388 all-bore (re-sleeve), 427 stroker and all-bore combined...that is about the only options you have that i can think of...383 will be BY FAR the cheapest...and prolly your best bet

sell the ls1 and build up an ls2 402. by the time you do all the machine work, purchase the rotating assembly, ect the price difference between the 383 and 402 is minimalistic.

are you talking flywheel or rear wheel HP? with the proper h/c setup on the 402 you can have over 500rwhp easy.

What is the typical cost to resleeve an LS1 to a 427 (4.125???) bore?

Looking towards the future, something about a 427 badge on the side of an SS that just gives me wood

a 427 will run you near 18k depending on wherever you get it from...they aren't cheap...to be honest they aren't worth it...especially since you can get a 408 for about 5k
