Help w/ choosing a cam
I need some help on choosing a cam for my car, I want a cam that is street friendly due to my daily driver, but yet make good hp, I building it to run high 10's on the bottle, but i need it to be good enough for daily driving, im not sure on what specs, to look for in a cam. In my old car the cam was a comp cams, 216/220 dur. at .50,.525/.535 lift,114 lsa,and it was so lopie that my car would die. Help me out.

The split durration cams do not seem to idle as well as the strait durration stuff. I think a 218/218 or a 220/220 on a 114 should idle well. With tuning you won't hardly know you have an aftermarket cam in there.
I went 11.30's all motor with that 216/220 cam so does pack some bite for its bark.

A4 or M6? Stalled/ Geared? That will help several guys out in helping you out.
Stay in the 22x range if you want really nice DD. I'm 232/234 on a 112 daily driving, and I mean 450+ miles a week, not including weekend b.s.

Along with what size stall/gear/tire, and where your car will see the majority of it's powerband, pick your cam specs based on the head specs also. Do the heads flow well enough in the mid lift/high lift areas to support a "big" cam? Just b/c a cam is big doesn't necessarily mean it can't be a sweet daily driver. Just like alot of baby cams seem to make killer power/ET #'s with proper COMBO MATCHING. Lot's of variables to consider. Not just lift/duration do a good cam make. Ramp rates, LCA, ICL, LBC, ABDC #'s all play an equally important role.
Do you want head snapping low end torque(for the street)? High speed/rpm power(at the track)? A compromise in both to get "all round" performance?
"Street friendly" is a very subjective term. Lot's of good cams out there.
Talk to Allan @ FMS with your goals. His grinds always seem to do exactly what they're meant/designed to do. I'm sure he can spec out a cam to suit your needs.
Good luck!
