Racetech customer service
Guys I've been having a nightmare with my AS 5.3L heads with 978 valve springs. The intake valve springs were set at an install height of 1.830", instead of 1.850", with the .588 XER lobe I'm going to install, coil bind is only .047" away. Too close for comfort for me. Comp and others say minimum .060". I have checked with Comp, Manley, REV and many of our LS1 tech sponsors to help me resolve this issue to no avail.
Enter Terry at Racetech, I explained my dilemma to him and he said let me ship you some retainers to establish a base line and if they don't resolve the issue then we can fabricate retainers at +.020, or +.025 that will meet your needs so you won't be so close to coil bind. It would have been so easy for him to blow me off like others and say there just isn't anything available to resolve your issue. Instead he is going to get me out of a bind.
For this I am grateful, this is by no means some kind of a big profit deal. I hope when you guys are looking at spring kits and other items he carries you will give his products some deserved consideration.
