redline for FM15?
I'm about to ship the PCM off to be tuned and am wondering what you guys think I should set the rev limiter at. I'm figuring 7k, or 6800-7k with the stock bottom end. The cam pulls from 3500-7200, so I figure 7K is pretty good with the Comp 921's. Any suggestions? I'm shipping it off tomorrow, so any input tonight is very appreciated.

I went with this cam, but on a 112 LSA and 110 ICL. The cam might spin to 7200 rpm, but it probably stops making power way before that. Check the dyno section and look at someone's dyno w/the stock heads, since that's what you're using, right?

Looked at all the dynos I could find of it on the stock heads, and it appears to peak at around 6500 rpm. I'd set the rev limiter at 6800 so you don't stress the bottom-end/valvetrain.

My car picked up a mph from being shifted at 6400-6500 to 6800-6900. Pretty big difference. This was with 4.30's, powershifting. This was with the FM15, all boltons, stock heads on ET Streets.

Thanks guys. I'll probably set it at 6800 for nowto keep everything happy for a little reliability. I doubt it'll be spun that high regularly anyway.
Distortion69, what were your et's and mph with this cam? My motor will basically be the same, and I'm going to make the car as light as possible with just the necessary items.

My car had some issues.. it only ended up doing 11.8 @ 115.3mph due to some unknown issues it was having @ 3500# raceweight or so.. Lots of speculation on what could have been wrong, but still not entirely sure. If your car runs right it should be deep 11's..

That is correct.. its the RJ cam.. Made for stock heads. Mine dynod well and ran good but something happened to the car to make it run crappy shortly before my track visit.. not sure if it is was a sensor or what.

Here's my Dyno Chart with the FM15 and stock heads. This is the overlay of my bolt-ons graph and the cam graph.
I would set your rev limiter to 6900-7000 and I would shift it at 6800. That gives you enough so it won't drop out of the powerband on upshifts. I have my light set for 6600 which puts me right at 6800 shifting.

That's what I'm hoping for too. It should be a blast to cruise around in.
