are titanium retainers a must when doing a valvespring job?, I want to put some double springs but would like to save the extra $$$...

Nice Thread headline. How high do you plan on reving it. If your not going to rev the crap out of it (6500-UP) then no, Steel ones will do fine.

You really should, besides most double spring kits already come with the Ti Retainers.

What cam are you running? The stocker still? Why do you want double springs?

tit. retainers are not going to do anything for you unless your rev past 6500
