Default TR236/G5X2 numbers?

Hey everyone. I'm getting ever closer to cammin' my damn car...bought the headers today...last of the supporting mods pretty much, so I'll be getting the cam soon. I've been looking at a G5X2 because a G5X3 on an A4 is a little more extreme than I want for my daily driver. I already know what to expect pretty much for numbers out a G5X2 and bolt-ons car, but I've also been looking at the TR236. How would this compare to the G5X2? Low end/top end? I know the TR236 supposedly revs high and puts down good numbers, but so does the G5X2. Any reason why I should take one over the other?

I haven't seen many TR236's here. The X2 is a proven performer, I say get the X2.

The TR 236 is bigger than the X3, so I don't see how the X3 can be to extreme. The X3 on a 114 will be fine in your daily driver as long as you have a compitent tuner.

TR236 bigger than the X3? How? The Tr236 is 236/230, .605/.575, 112 LSA, and the G5X2 is 232/240, .595/.608, 114 LSA. The G5X3 is larger than the G5X2, which is larger than the TR236 is my estimation. Unless my math is wrong, I'm not seeing it.

When looking at the size of a cam, you focus more on the intake lobe. The TR cam being a 236 on a 112, will hit much harder than the X2 with a 232/114 LSA. You also have to look at the .200" valve lift and the other aspects of the lobe profile. Just because the TR cam is a revese at .050" dosen't mean that it is reverse at any other point of valve lift. You can also look at the valve overlap, in which the X2 has 8 degrees of overlap and the TR236 has 9. Valve lift is just a biproduct of a lobe. It dosen't factor much into the "size" of the cam.

Hit harder? What do you mean by that?
