Default De-stroker?

Are there parts out there to make this possible? What sort of displacements when using the stock bore are "available"?

GM made a 302 version, that they were toying around with to put in a special version SS, however instead they cancelled the cars platform.

I dont remember but I believe they use a ls1 block, and a 4.8l crank or something like that, it was in an article I read in 2000ish so i cant remember exactly.

but yes you can

Having just done the math I have figured an LS1 with a 4.8L V8 crankshaft would displace 312ci as the 4.8's crankshaft has a stroke of 3.27 inches. But this is a step in the right direction. What sort of modifications would be required to fit this crankshaft?

To run a setup like that you would need either 4.8 rods or a different set of rods. I think you can run the 4.8 crank and some 6.200 rods.

I drove the 302ci LS1 Camaro, it was fun to shift at 7500. But destroking does not make more power.

You can get any throw you want from Crower, Callies, HTC, etc. Ditto rod length. These cranks would have ALOT less rotational inertia.

However, if you are spending that much, you should go to as large a bore as possible to unshroud the valves.
