Default Best performance cam for a daily driver

What would you guys recommend for the best performance daily driver cam? Im going to be getting pacesetter LTs+ORY, torque converter/cooler/shift kit, and a cam put in all the same time and tune with HPTuners.

TIA

most folks would say a TR224 cam or a TSP225...there's quite a few to choose from but ud prolly hear most folks say get a 224 cam on a 114lsa. with all the right bolt-ons like lid, ls6 intake, ud pulley, ported TB, exhaust like ur getting etc etc ud hit 375rwhp locked with a really good dyno tune w/ ur hp tuners and still have excellent street manners
Stick w/ the stock MAF though, u can de-screen it but dont get an aftermarket one or ported maf ends as they will make it harder to tune.

I would go with something from Futral. Their cams are well known for having great drivability, great power and really good idle quality. Call Alan at Futral and he can suggest a cam for your needs. If you want maximum performance with good drivability the F13 cam would probably be just what you're looking for.

So a F13 would be good for a semi-daily driver? I sometimes drive more on somedays then others, how much do they run?

Yes, that would be fine. Its not that big of a cam these days. With a good tune it would make a good daily driver cam.

I have a 220/216 custom, I was very depressed when i got back my final dyno numbers.

I only gained like 20 HP at the top end, but after looking at it I gained about 35-45 torque from about 2K-4K. I believe better tuning will increase my numbers better, but i will not state the company that only dyno tuned my car. It has very good street manners and good low end torque, which is what i wanted when i spoke with the cam designer. Also, another tuning issue, it idles at ~875 rpm, which i believe that it could be much lower if the people who tuned it really cared, b/c all they did was bump up my rpm and worked on air/fuel ratios.

Also, IMO where you will be driving the car will alter your opinion on a daily driver. For instance, I would prefer to have a smaller cam in lots of stop-n-go driving or i could afford to use a larger cam in a town that didnt have much traffic. It all depends on the driving style.

Final words: as everyone else has stated i would go with a 224 or 225 setup. Probably would be wise to call futral and speak to alan about what you want as well, he may be able to whip up something nice for you. Also, if you dont plan on changing anything else on your car after you get done with this, I would suggest talking to a custom cam designer.

FWIW, I'm going with the TSP 225 when I get the car paid off. I've been poking around the forums lately and asking guys on other boards what they think, and the general consensus seems to be that it's an awesome cam in a daily driver.

Just my .02

Ok it looks like F13 is for me, would you recommend the 112 or 114?

Also, the other things listed on Futral's website, do I need them for the install or are they a good bang for the buck for performance?

I've got the X1 from MTI, had it in my daily driver for over a year and a half, makes good power, very liveable. Its 230/224 .591/.571/112.

See numbers below, that's without most bolt-ons.

actually its 230/227 .591/.571 112+4

I had it in my old car for 3 years as a daily driver....made 393RWHP and 382RWTQ....drove it in all weather conditions including heavy snow(though it helped that I had real snow tires on)
no problems at all with it for a daily driver

With the automatic I would go with the 114 LSA to help maintain a better quality idle. I would also go with the dual upgrade kit, also if you order it MAKE SURE AND GET THE BIGGER LOCKS. I reused the stock ones and grenaded my engine . If you call Alan I'm sure he can tell you everything you need.

Ah yes, got to dust the cobwebs off my memory...

So what happened to your X1 setup? I noticed you're back to basically stock.

I sold my Z28 to a buddy on a regional F-body board....he hasnt touched the engine....but he did a bunch to the suspension from what I understand...and I have been told that he needs to learn how to drive it

I bought a 2000 SS....
and I just purchased some headers and duals and hptuners....all the other goodies to come shortly

a cam is being considered awhile...

and I'm leaning towards a 224ish cam for this car
maybe a tr224 or tsp224R or tsp225 or fm-2...you get the idea

I'm leaning towards these for spring reasons.... I'm planning on dual springs(I dont know why anybody would even consider singles when doing a cam other than the ls6 cam...you break a spring...you break a motor basically...and with duals...you break a spring...you have time to shut it down...and replace the spring before you kill the motor or any other parts)
and the relatively small size of cam shold make my duals last for 30k+ miles...meaning less often spring changes....

also somewhere down the road...a 224ish cam falls in line of I want to do some spray juice...doubt I will...but you never know
