Interesting to see so many stock cube guys running such large cams...Mine is not an "off-the-shelf" which is good since the car itself isn't being built that way.

PLEASE TELL ME THAT YOU CAN NOT FIT THAT IN A STOCK CUBE ENGINE

Thats the cam in my 408 Motor, in my stock cube 346 I have this cam:

FMS 255/261 .731/.738 108 LSA

I went 10.11 NA with my 346 motor and I run 9.6x NA with my 408.

Interesting comparison:

MOTOR: FMS 346cid LS1 (Stock LS1 Block)
RWHP: 485ish
BEST ET: 10.11 @ 133 MPH
RACE WEIGHT: 3250

Same car..

MOTOR: FMS 408cid LS1 (Stock 6.0 Iron Block)
RWHP: 585ish
BEST ET: 9.68 @ 139 MPH
RACE WEIGHT: 3350

With the 408 the car is 100# heavier also, its a no brainer the 408 is MORE FUN!!

Right now I'm beginning another FMS motor project, I'll post more when I get some decisions finalized.

The question is why would you want to. You'd have to run 15 to 1 compression and about 9000 rpm or so with that cam for it to work in a 346/347. That and you would have to have super huge valve reliefs. Of course you would already have them I guess because of the 9000rpm short block you would have to assemble for this to work. Please post your results if you do this, should be real funny.

On the 346, I have:

FAST LSX 90mm intake, FAST 90mm TB
FMS/Meaux Heads, they are LS6 heads with 2.055/1.60 valves
I used K-motion double springs and T&D shaft rockers
I shift the motor at 7400 rpm and trap at 7400
Drive train is a TH400 with a TCI 5k Stall, Moser 12 bolt and 4.56 Gears, MT 30x10.5x15 Tires

Everything on my current setup is exactly the same except I changed the short block to a 408 iron block with a bigger cam. I still use the same intake/heads/valve train/drive train etc.. I did have TCI tighten the converter and I also put in bigger valves for the 408 2.08 valves now.

I will be going to a sheetmetal intake on my next motor, I believe as does Allan that my current 408 can't get enought air through the LSX90.

Cool deal. I sold my fast 90 combo, I meant returned, for a single plain gmpp which I will use a 4 barrel tb with because the lsx style manifolds don't hold air flow at higher valve lifts .600" and up. I bet you will fly with that change (sheetmetal intake I mean).

Default Help

Alright guys need help, buying a 99 trans am and trying to figure out how much power this set up would have. Guy saids 430 to 450 to the wheels on a mail order tune... It's a stock lq4 with prc stage 2.5 heads Vic jr intake with 43lbs injectors and nick Williams throttle body t56 new ls6 clutch and McLeod flywheel, the cam is a 323/234 598/598 on a 110lsa and the mail in tune. Do you think it actually has 450 ish to the wheels? And capable of more with a dyno tune? Thanks
