Default Zo6 cam

Will the z06 ls6 cam work in an A4 car with a stock stall converter?
Just looking for a cheaper upgrade. Can I get around 360hp - 370hp?
Thank you

yes it will i know the zo6 cam does not have a great deal of lift to it. it will work for you. i dont know exactly what kind of gains you are looking for with it.

ZO6 Cam will work, but I think you should go with the 216 Comp Cam.

z06 isn't the best for A4, as it peaks very late (6500rpm usually) and most A4 people don't wanna spin that high. so you either get yourself a chain with adjustable timing and just advance it to lower that peak, or just bump up that rev limiter to 6800rpm and let if shift where it supposed to. either works well. but if you expect to get gains without either, then you're gonna be disappointed. the best part of z06 cam is that it never seems to run out of power, it just keeps on going, so you must utilize it, or it goes to waste.

I am debating on the Comp 216 and would really appreciate your thoughts as to why you believe it will be a better cam for this car. BTW, I have a 2000 C5, A4 w/3.15 gears and will be installing 2003 LS6 heads, LS6 intake and injectors, Dynatech longtubes w/high flow cats and X-pipe, a Vararam cold air intake and will be getting an LS1 Edit tune. Thanks!

The 216/220 Comp cam was one of the pioneer grinds back in the days before the TR224.
I had it on my old 99 TA and it made 378rwhp with bolt ons, M6 with LS1 intake, stock TB.
Good low end trq and carries well to 6500, starts dipping slightly at 6300 rpm.

This is a graph from TR website

Great! Thanks for the info. How did the cam idle and run in general? Was mileage greatly affected? Would low end torque, and general chacteristics, be good with an A4 with a stock stall? The graph looks really good.

City mileage was barely affected and Hwy increased.
Idle was a very mild lope depending on your exhaust setup. With stock catback you can barely tell.
Yes it will do well with an A4, just needs tuning. As for trq look at the graph, over 300rwtq at 2300rpm peak at 4800.
Look if you want a cam that is gentle on springs, well manered and good street SOP, it is still hard to beat even with today's grinds.
Otherwise look at VINCI/Crane cams like cam 047
http://www.vincihighperformance.com/
The accelerated lift cams are pretty good street performers.
