Ideal crankcase vacuum What would be the ideal crankcase vacuum if you had some ability to regulate it with a vacuum pump…
I’m just trying to understand when you run into too much of a good thing.
Also, has anyone here tried the technique of maintaning a vacuum on the crankcase with a storage tank. I've seen it done before with a large PVC canister and a check valve.

Too much vacuum can suck the oil out the valve cover. I know of a car that had that problem and blew an engine or two. We just did a vacuum system today with air pump set up in reverse. I would not try this on a street car, but we will see how it works at the track. A couple of my buddies did this on there sixties drag cars with ls1 air pumps. I will try a pump vs. breather test in the next week or to when we get to the track.
