Default Which Heads?

I am considering going with a set of new heads for my WS6 w/LS6. I have an F13 cam going in along with Kooks 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 race headers with ory.

I saw the MTI 2E heads and the price wasn't too bad. What sort of gains come from these heads?

Any other recommendations/suggestions? And what kinda price/gains am I looking at?

Thanks~

I see you already have the LS6...why not just get those ported with a stage 2 job from somebody? Should be cheaper than getting new heads.

Who do you suggest? What sort of gains/price am I looking at?

Someone else suggested that to me.

lsevenl, When you say WS6 with LS6, what do you mean? Do you mean that you have an LS6 intake? LS6 heads? An entire LS6 engine? If you do have the LS6 heads (come with the engine, of course) then there are two ways of looking at things. You could get your LS6 heads ported and have some very serious heads that perform extremely well. It will likely cost you between 1000 - 1500 to have the heads worked on. Otherwise, you could buy some stage 1.5 or stage 2 5.3 heads for 1500-2000, and then turn around and sell the LS6 heads for up to a grand depending on the condition of them. The 5.3 heads will probably perform within ~10 - 15 or so HP fo ported LS6 heads, but you could potentially recoup a lot of money.

I was assuming that he had the whole engine. As far as price goes, Gutis was pretty close on the numbers , depending on where you go. The 5.3's will work better on a stock cubes but if you ever decide to go bigger you will want the LS6 heads.

If you can afford some down time, take the LS6 heads off your car and send them up to TEA for a Stage 2.5 treatment. You'll be very happy with the results.

No times man. Car won't even pass tech.
Frankly, I won't be doing any drag racing at the track for a while. I can't afford breaking any more things. My last clutch and diff. only lasted 9 months.

Dude, if you've got the LS6 heads, definitely send them to TEA to get ported. They will make amazing power. Most people get the 5.3L because the core charge is cheaper (since they don't have 5.3L or LS6 heads).

Abosulutely. The TEA LS6 heads produce more tq than their 5.3's also.

Alright, I just placed an order with Brent from TEA! Apparently they revamped their 1.5 stage setup (about a month or so ago) and cars are producing 450rwhp with this setup. I was willing to spend more for the 2.0 or 2.5 but as far as he is concerned this was the suggested setup for the LS6 core.

I went ahead and bought an LS6 core from him so they could start getting to work on it. I couldn't afford the downtime (2-3 weeks) of taking off my heads and not having a car for that amount of time.

I also ordered a 90mm tb and an LSX intake.

My LS6 heads will be for sale shortly. The entire engine has less than 3000 miles on it. If anyone is interested PM me.
