Default Comp XR269 or Custom

I am thinking of getting a comp 216 220 .525 .532 and 114 lsa. I am looking for near stock driveability and longevity. I don't want to replace the springs every 30k. I hear this cam is good for ~30 rwhp. I also plan on keeping stock manifolds/shorty headers an live in cali I know I might be able to do a little better with a custom cam, maybe a reverse split. Considering my criteria should I just get the comp cam, or would it be worth the money for a custom? How much more power could I make with a custom? I can get the comp cam used from a friend for less than half the price of a custom.
