Are 2002 Heads Better Than 98 Heads.

Anything after the 98 is better. The 97-98 heads didn't flow like the 99-01 (853 castings); 02+ (241 castings) are a step more desireable than the years before.

so what is a "good" deal on a set of stock ones? i found a set for my cousins 98 ss and they are a good deal. we are going to port them and put some springs on them and get them ready for a cam and ls6 intake

John, good quote. My GI Bill goes towards the car half the time too

i thought 241 castings came on 2001 cars too. i could be wrong.

Yes, they do. That's what came on my car from the factory. 2001 and 2002 LS1's are identical, except for one here and there that has an LS6 block. None of the fbody LS1's have ever had LS6 heads, though, just the short block.
