Wink Help me choose my cam thread

Ok so here is my setup I am planning for summer fun.

AFR 205 heads (on the way )
Kooks 1 7/8 header and catted Y (because I plan to go to a stroker next winter )
3 1/2 " Stainless works catback
12 bolt with 3.73
staying with LS6 intake and ported throttle body
ASP underdrive pulley
2002 SS with stock bottom end with very low milage

shud I go with comp 232 234 .595 .598 cam and no mill on the AFR 205's

or

the smaller 224 228 .581 .581 cam from AFR and mill .025 to bump the compression a point.

I want to avoid fly cutting.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Maybe I need a cam in between to compromise

You'll probably be happier with the less cam more cr route. Depends on how much street driving you intend on doing though.

Need more info. What's the LSA they are cut on? Seeing how you are going stroker and probably won't run either of those cams on your new motor, I would go with something popular that has some resale value. I would go with something like the MS from TSP. You'll get to play with it for now, and then when you stroke it you can probably sell it pretty quick. And don't let anyone tell you that you can't make a big cam driveable.

Well I ordered a comp 228 230 588 592 XER 112.

I am also adding a Fast 90 intake and Nick Williams TB to my setup.

I am hoping that I'll have enough PV clearence to allow a small mill without flycutting to bump the compression a bit.

It'll be about end of May before I get all my parts together.

What you guys think 450 RWHP a realistic goal?

TTT

My engine builder will check PV for me but I'd still like to hear from anyone that has used a similar cam and milled.

The heads showed up today, they gonna get flowed in the next day or so

Just curious, why are you so against fly cutting? Big cams and higher compression go hand in hand.

I just wasn't sure if fly cutting was the best thing for longevity.

I'm hoping that I can mill a bit even with that cam.
