timing chain question

Default timing chain question

hey guys, i just did a cam swap , i put the timing chain back on and it has a half inch of slack when pushed back and forth , is this normal? i was told it is but i want to make sure before i start it up. Thanks guys i appreciate it!

edit: the car has 44k on it ,and the cam is a fms f4 on 114, comp 918 springs and hardened rods

mine was the same way with 45k on it . I replaced it with the cam
