Default 10w30 and ticking?

since i have got my truck i have used mobil 1 10w30 and a pf59 filter every 3 thousand miles, i also add some BG MOA oil additive http://www.bgprod.com/bgprofessional...s/autooil.html

it has kept csk down and keeps the motor quiet

today i changed the oil but didnt add the bg moa oil additive and now csk is worse and i can hear a faint knocking or ticking sound when driving by somethin so the sound is amplified back

was the oil additive just increasing the viscoity so it hid engine noise?

if it was, is there somethin i can do to quiet the motor back down without going with a higher viscosity oil or using the additive again?

Imagine that, an LS1 that ticks. Do you have an exhaust leak?

nope, im pretty sure its not an exhaust leak since i started hearing the noise after my oil change

this is happening in my truck with the 5.3, which is still part of the ls1 family correct?!?!

today at the shop im goin to poke around and see if i cant find out where the sound is comin from

y not try adding in that additive again and see what happens...if it quiets down then you have your answer.

I know that when i run 5w30 mobil 1 in the thing its louder than when i up it to 10w30 so im just gonna stick with 10w30 from now on.

I use Mobil 0W40 synthetic with great results, in all practical purposes it is really on the "thick" side of a 30 weight oil,Mobil syn has any/all additives that your truck needs, for myself I wouldn't throw off that chemical balance with the addition of an additive. As far as your knock sensor code there is a specific diagnostic flow chart to follow to see if the actuall sensor needs to be replaced.
