Default Yet another "Which Head" thread

Okay. I have been reading, and reading, and reading about which heads to go with. Still undecided. Thinking one thing, then I read something else......

Motor set-up....
TSP LQ9 402ci
-12cc Mahle pistons
Lunati rods
248/254 629/622 113 TSP cam

I have been leaning towards AFR 225's.

I read and read, and I just don't seem to get a clear answer in my head as to which heads will net best results.
The car is going to be a strong street car, with minimal time at the track. Not a daily driver. Looking to run good times at the track, but I need some things to help her hook before I really start worrying about that.
Anyways......any advice is welcome!!!
Thanks!

Default which head

I would reccommend the new ETP 235 Gen3 11 degree cylinder head. Comes standard with 1.550 valve springs and a raised valve cover rail, no need for spacers anymore. Call 248-668-9390 for more info and to find a dealer near you. We will have full details on our website very soon.

Those sound like a little too much $ for me.
Can't hurt to research though.

Default $$$$

In your first post, you mentioned the AFR 225's . We will be priced at the same level.

225's with 72cc chambers and your pistons = a low comp. ratio.

I have seen AFR 225's with a smaller chamber. I am not sure how to determine compression from the parts installed.

I am thinking 9.5:1 to 10:1 would work for me. I am hoping to boost her in the future. Not the near future though. Nothing crazy when it comes to boost either.

Either I am right on with selecting the AFR 225's, or you guys don't want to tell me different.
Come on, I KNOW you all have an opinion on this one!!

i would go with the afr 225s or tea stage 3s. both will have high velocity and great mid-lift numbers.afrs will have a thicker deck tho so that might come into play, especially if block and heads is not o -ringed when you up the boost.

I have your exact short block...same pistons. I am using patriot heads cause they were inexpensive for what you get. How did you arrive at your cam size? I plan on using one with about the same specs but a 110 lsa. The afr heads 225 would be a good choice.

Just get the AFR 225's! Those are great heads and will work well with your set up.
