At proper seating specs, those 918's will take over .600 at 7K rpm all day.
One thing is to make sure you let them reach operating temp before thrashing on them.
I will be doing another motor soon and 918's will be in there again

My stock motor dropped a valve because I didn't recognize a broken spring. When its an unplanned repair it hurts. I've broken three sets of springs except the 918's and I have the rev limiter set at 6700 and rarely bump it. My cams have all been very, very mild. LPE gt-2, Lunati 230 545/114 not big at all. Next time really, don't keep driving it if you break a spring. I'd rather pay $50.00 for a tow than $3500 for a motor.

Truthfully guys, this has been somewhat of an "experiment" for me, ever since we saw the several batches of spring breakage a couple years back. I installed this early set of 918's amidst all the failures, "to see if they hold up." When they lived, I started camming up. After 35,000 miles, I'd say I went past their usable limit and I've been saying for a year that they probably should be changed out. If I would have hurt the shortblock by dropping a valve, that's part of the game. It could have happened the instant the spring broke, or it might never have -- it is always a gamble. I wouldn't recommend driving to work on it to anyone, even though I did it
