When looking at cams, what do they mean when they are talking about the lobe seperation 113+2. I dont understand what the +2 means. Im looking at getting TEA 2.5 heads and their 232/234 but was confused with the 113+2.I understand the 113, but +2????

In general advance in the grind is done to bring on the desired powerband on a little earlier. Also some say that it is to compensate for any slack in the chain over time (that one I'm still sceptic about)
My feelings are that some marketing strategies lie beneath all of this.
People want big cam (big durations), but with that comes a loss of streetable trq down low. Advancing a cam lowers the peaks of trq and Hp therefore providing more power in lower rpms yet still be able to carry that into the highs.
I personally think that any cam that needs advancing like +4 to give power lower can simply be duplicated by smaller durations with no advance. Hense my choice of 224/220 116 straight up (+0) instead of a 228/230 cam advanced.
This is IMO
