Thumbs up *Updated w/Dyno*I'm now TEA headed and MTI cammed...

Been here in Ohio past couple of days having my TEA 5.3 stage 1.5 heads and MTI G1 cam installed.

First things first... great people to deal with and have working on your car that is for sure. Great thanks go out to Jim who put everything in and had me running today. Another great thanks goes to Brent who took the time to take me to another shop with a dyno and tune my car after he got off work till allmost 9pm tonight. That in itself speaks volumes to me and will go a long way with getting repeat service from me(plus the great price on those heads).

Car sounds bad a$$ with the G1 cam through Kook's 1 3/4, ORY, and SLP 2OTL. Nice mean lopey idle like I was wanting.

I'm sure everyone will want numbers but those will have to come later as Brent had to tune it on a Mustang Dyno Who knows how those things work?!? Since we were dealing with that Brent tuned me on the conservative side to be safe since I wanted my car to still be daily drivable if I chose to do so. For those who want numbers.... 312hp on the mustang dyno lol. Pretty stout dont you think? What makes me feel better is a supercharged WS6 they have only put down 360hp on this same dyno(500+ on a Dynojet dyno). I am pretty sure those are the numbers I was told, if not Brent can correct me on those.

Butt dyno says.... WTF did you do to this thing?!?! Pulls like a madman above 3500 rpm. Definately way more top end than stock. I was expecting to lose some low end torque with the cam but if I did I sure cannot tell that it's gone. Even if it is the top end more than makes up for it.

If you've made it this far, thanks. Again thanks to everyone involved with my install, TEA, Brent, Jim, and anyone else who helped.

JasonG

*Update Below*

Hit up the same dyno as the before numbers I posted of 320hp and 330tq today. Hit 401hp and 384tq on the second run. Did a little trickery and popped off the air lid and put down 405/391. These are SAE numbers and the biggest thing to point out is that I drove 50 miles to get there and put these numbers down by hopping straight on the Dyno.

Now I'm not too good at math but that seems like more than a 25-35hp diff coming from the mustang dyno. So that just goes to show that all Dyno's are diff Mustang or Dynojet. Too bad I had no takers of the bet of only gaining the 25-25 hp.

Brent I'm ready for more tuning to see if we can get even more hp out of it. On the first run you see we blew out the afr thingy on the top end as we did on the mustang dyno. The others look pretty good.

See attached. TEA heads and MTI cam.

LOL If you were thinking 312hp is anything close to what it will put down on a dynojet then we all have something to worry about. A stock A4 LS1 put down 208hp on this same mustang dyno.... so you think 25hp diff is true? Diff dyno diff numbers. Going to the same dynojet as my previous numbers were done at and then we can see how close those number really are. 25-35 I think not and I'd be willing to put money on that. Any takers that my 312hp only goes up by 25-35? Lid and cat-back it ran 320hp on a dynojet.

I will take the bet if you pull a spark plug before we start.

I agree, you should have a 380+ car there.

The people at mustang dyno say it will be approximately 10% less rwhp than a dynojet. There was a big comparo in one of the mags last year.My stock 97 lt1 with cold air and cat back made 284rwhp and 340 rwtq on a mustang dyno. My .02

Ahh,don't worry to much his car is still on the fat side. The wide band was giving mixed results so I had to tune off of his O2 sensors and did not want to press it.
They dynoed a stock ls1 earlier and it made 206rwhp so do not feel to bad

Let me know how it turns out this weekend Jason, If you need me to I will drive down there and finish it at your home dyno. Nice meeting you and I hope you have a safe trip back.

The Mustang dyno in question is new to the owners of it. They have not had time tweek it and I am doubting all the numbers it put out. I am sure it will be fine once they get it dialed in. I think we were the third car to have been on it.
The car is a stick and it said it made 312hp and 400+ rwtq...come on

Mustang Dynos generally rock to tune on. I am sure the one I used had a few issues due to it being new to the shop. The people that own are pretty sharp so I am sure they will get it figured out. Running a Mustang dyno is a little more difficult than running a dynojet.

I'm sure that's the case. Same deal happened with a Mustang Dyno in a buddy's shop when they first opened up.

By theory, I don't understand why more places don't use a Mustang Dyno for tuning. I guess because the big numbers bring the customers?

Mustang Dynos are also a lot more expensive than Dynojets. I thought Dynojet's were ~$20,000 but Mustangs are ~$50,000.

No worries friend. Hoping to hit the Dynojet tomorrow. I'll update the post with numbers as soon as I get them.
