It's possible that the heads are pourous and seaping coolant into the chamber or intake runner(s). Seen that one before on some aggressive ports. Do a pressure test. That's the only way to tell.

Did a quick pressure test but ran out of light. Looks like I do have a leak. Pressure would not hold. I couldn't see any leaks, will do it again when there is more light.

So I am guessing cracked block?

That sucks Ed. At least it will hopefully stay together until you're ready.

See you tomorrow to start tearing mine apart ! I'll give you a call when I'm on my way, probably around 4:30 or so.

When you shop around make sure you talk to the guys at LME, and to Steve @ Race Engine Development (father of the MID sleeve). Steve is local to us in Oceanside :

Well ran a pressure tester and I think I found the leak. After an hour I saw some coolant coming from the thermostat.

Went to tighten it, of course broke off the bolt.

Any idea of a easy way to get it out?

Well, at least you found the leak... That's good news.

EZ-out ? Crow's foot maybe ? If the head broke off hopefully the broken piece is not under pressure anymore and will be easy to get out - but sheesh, thermo housing, what an inconvenient place to get to to work on it...

Lemme know if you need a hand...

BTW, got on it some yesterday PM and this morning. Making about 2-3# with the cutout open and about 4# with it closed. Feels fine ! Can't wait for new pulleys and more boost. One thing I've noticed is I need to tune the low end VE back up because it's stumbling a little down low now, especially when warm. The bigger chambers need a little more air I think (closer to the stock table).

Well, I guess I can remove the pump and work on it. If I have to just change it. Hmm... EWP. Never ending.....

Glad the car is running good.

Well, the other day at the track you did say you wanted one so you could run the coolant through the radiator with the fans on while the car was off...

Might be a good time to take the plunge since you don't need a new block.

Damn bro, no good luck for you this week I guess... Are you gonna try to fix the starter bolt tab on the block or just start looking for a new setup ?

How bad is the break ?

That sucks !

How old is your waterpump itself. When the pump goes bad the coolant leaks out of the small hole at the bottom of it. Depends on how far gone it is as to how much it leaks. Have you checked that?
