I volunteer to regulate the "What cam" threads and all others that don't pertain to internal tech.

I browse this forum more than any other LSX forum, and I spend a lot of time here searching. That is the reason my post count isnt a gazillion posts. Most of the time for newbs such as myself the info is somewhere in here. QUIT BEING LAZY PEOPLE! Oh and i also hate the "guess my HP" threads too, especially when people using some pretty common mods. Just strap it to the damn dyno or run it at the track already, only way to really find out.

What we need is a standardized copy and paste response. Or to simply direct them to the appropriate sticky/post/thread, such as the one JRP linked to this thread earlier. Use it as the only response to people who ask the typical what cam question without any knowledge, ideas, uses etc. Then wait for them to ask a half educated question or at least list everything pertient before giving any specific advice to them.

Or just tell them to get a TR224 on a 114. Either that or the Trex.

same here.

i've brought it up to brains before that we need a slippery hack like ls2 has were once the hack is imposed a new reply wont bring it back to the top.

i dont mind repetative cam threads, what i dont like is people who dont take the time out to do there own research and get the basics down to be able to even understand the advice that is dispenced. some people want you to do all the work short of wiping there *** for them.

After reading this, I'm tempted to post up a thread with the title reading something like this:

What cam....

and then if someone actually clicks on it they would see.

should we shove up the --- of the next guy that asks "What cam?"

I see where most of you are coming from, but this is a forum and its original purpose is to post or ask questions. Some of us have been here longer than others. Maybe its time some of us moved on to other parts of this board if you have no intrest in whats currently being posted. If the current thread is a broken record question I say just leave it be and let it drop out of circulation. No need to get all pissy, we all had to learn at one point. If no one conrtibutes to a stupid question I think the author will eventually get the point. I say take a step back guys and let the noobs answer their own questions. Besides what fun is this forum if you cant help out a fellow member. Would you all complain if all these technical guys came in here asking questions no one had answers for ? What would you do then, when you had nothing to add or comment on?
Just sit round and get mad. How these guys only post technical questions and can never just ask something we can all contribute on .!!!! Lighten up skip the stupid threads and just get over it, noobs eventually learn.

It's just a little rediculous exactly how many there are, and how little they say when asking. There are stickies for a reason, as well as a search button.

that anwsers the threads between his post and here pretty much.

Why give a specific forum to clog with "is the TR224 going to give me X power?", etc etc, when we all know that between the internal and dyno section there are a gazillion threads dealing with that. Search is a very very easy tool, click it, a box comes up, type in a couple words and hit go. thats easier than a new thread, new post, anything, its ****** simple. If the newbs would realise that search is so amazing they would use it.

I do reply to threads and I have replied to cam threads, but it seems to grow exponetially lately...

Note: partial quote!!

I think he's right, though - speaking as a noob! If the guys that have been on here for a while don't answer up, a newer guy might post something like "Hey, I found this great thread over here..." Just like the quote - let the noobs answer their own questions!

It's been working for me so far, but then I'm still on the noob stuff - hell I don't even have a lid, let alone any ideas for cams!!

Could it be possible to do a Cam sub forum on the internal engine section??? That would probably be too much book keeping. We might need a new sticky at the top pertaining to either searching or cams.

I hate to see too many stickies in forums, but it would probably be worthwhile to have a sticky for would be "what cam" topic starters to read first. IF they don't, and post with no background or other pertienent info then you can simply post a link to the sticky.

Edit: I don't think a sub-forum is the answer. I would dislike that, actually.

Don't disagree, I was just thinking another subforum would allow for the easy response and thus making sure that everyone in that forum would be searching for what they are looking for.

One thing that you guys need to remember is that not everyone knows as much as the next. I know that the search button would be nice every now and then but come on. The only way to learn something is to ask. Even if you do answer sarcasticaly they are going to take that to heart. I know that I have asked some dumb questions that could have been searched nut how many times does a thread go in a different direction then how it originated. Alot of the time the question does not even get answered by we find out how so and so's girlfriends baby shower went. Give them a break and let them learn. I know that I did and now I am over in the tunning section asking all of dumb questions learning how to tune and those people over there are not saying use the search button

I think there should be an advanced internal forum with limited posting access (based on membership duration, like min 1 year, {not # of posts as that is futile}

Then there should be some kind of sticky with a test in order to graduate to posting.
Like read JRP links, and JMX how to, so that the members have a basic idea regarding the parameters of the LSx motors.

As most things this forum started small and keeps growing, but some re-organization could be more beneficial.

If you don't reply to the thread then it will fall out of circulation.
