That's how you're supposed to do it. Put it on the tube, then put the tube into the pump. It might have been a little off center when you tightened it up and the oring got nicked.

well I opened my eBay bought ported oil pump and it was garbage. Now I gotta order a new one from thunder racing. DON'T EVER BUY AN OIL PUMP OFF EBAY!! THEY ARE CRAP!

I'll try to get pictures of it. I guess that's what I get for trying to save money and only spending $80 on a used oil pump. Just ordered a ported pump from thunder racing, next day air shipping, so hopefully car will be up and running by saturday.

what did you do with the stock pump????
you coulda ported it, or just left it on for the time being......

Whenever you replace the o-ring, spread a little grease around it before you put the tube back in the pump, and pay close attention to how the ring is going into the pump. These o-rings can be a **** @ times, the difference between oil pressure and 0. Good luck.

I never heard about this but couldnt you also put some gasket sealer around the pickup tube and around the o ring area, and even if the ring gets a little crimped the sealant would hold the oil pressure as a backup?

not something i'd be willing to bet my oil pressure on. i'll just make sure i do the o-ring correctly.
