What exactly can be transferred from a 98 LS1 to an LS6 motor?

I thought the heads werent transferable

heads will transfer, all heads bolt to the block w/the same pattern. its the VC's that have to match the perimiter bolt heads.

That just made my day. Also should i port the oil pump and should i go with a different oil pan?

if you already have an LS6 oil pump off the ls6 motor, no. if not, go buy an ls6 pump. ported or not its the upgraded design that matters. no need to use a different oil pan that i know of. not right now at least.
