Default Valve spring Micrometer?

Could someone tell me how to use one?? (Im retarded,heh) I bought it from Comp, and it didn't come with any directions or anything..The springs Im using are the CC beehives(918's) at installed height 1.75"-1.77". Anybody help me?? (and yes, this is on an LT1 )

I'm assuming its the silver twin drum with a hole thru the middle.
Turn the mic until its closed all the way.
Slide over valvestem and install retainer and locks with spring seats in place.
Open mic until it contacts the retainer. You may need to pull rather hard up on retainer to "set" the locks.
Read the installed height on side of barrell.
Add shims to get to your desired height.
