I don't think you would need to change your oil pump as long as your getting good pressure, but depending on the size of your cam you might want to invest the $30 in a LS2 timing chain.

Do you need to? No but since everything is already apart down there it is always good to get it done at the same time. Eventually you will need to rplace those things anyway. If you can only afford one, then go with the timing chain.

Yeah the chain is worth it. I just got one from SDPC, it was like $42 shipped plus i got 2 oil pump O-rings too. I'm going to take my chances with the stock pump, it's been fine.

I don't know the exact cutoff, but it was the 00 model year that they switched to the newer LS6 style pump. For how cheap you can get an LS6 pump/chain I'd just go ahead and do it.

If you dont have the money for either then don't sweat it. But it would be nice to get them done now than later down the road. Might as well do it all at once... Anyways, the stock chain and pump are fine, but if you have the $ handy then I would change them.

With 12K miles don't sweat it unless you are going with a monster cam like T-Rex, G5x4 etc....
Are you M6??
Most poeple break the chain on 5K clutch dumps.
A4's are tamer untill you hit 4400 stall.

I have a 01 and i'm still running my stock pump with a J-wis. soon another cam going in and this time not even springs will be changed (918's still at max specs after 8K miles), just the cam and tune and a set of heads (prolly TEA)

Nah, that is not violent enough. Your low mile setup should be fine.

Unless your certain that you have one of the 2000's that came with the ls6 oil pump, I would change that out just for piece of mind. (I think they changed to ls6 oil pumps mid year, 2000) And whats the sense in changine an oil pump and not upgrading to the ls2 chain or vice versa.
