Default truthful cam help

I have a stock bottom end and am going to get afr 225's and am looking for a cam to max maximize my heads but be an excellent daily driver. I am also ording a 90/90 set up for this and will be spraying a 150 shot. 12 bolt with 4.10's and it is a m6. your help is very much needed. I also like rough idle.

Define excellent daily driver. Some people wouldn't go larger than 220 or 224 and consider it an excellent daily driver. I consider my cam excellent for a daily driver. You can't really MAXIMIZE the heads and be an excellent daily driver. Have to sacrafice one or the other to an extent.

Ditto this. I would go with the TSP MS3 a second time, although I really like my cam. Most of the cams sold by the sponsors are good in a daily driver, IMO. You would really have to special order some kind of a custom cam to get one that's too big.

I mean i want it to be very reliable. Like if i take a 200 mile trip i don't have to worry about springs. I really want to get a good set of springs and that be it. Never to have to worry about them again unless something just happens.

You can't install and forget about any performance spring. You will have to check the springs every so often even on the milder cams. Unless you get a hotcam, asa or LS6 cam (or something similer) with LS6 springs you will have to run stiffer aftermarket springs. Comp 918's are a VERY good spring, and there are multiple dual springs out there that perform very well as well.

Well, a 200 mile trip certainly shouldn't be a problem. Its recommended to check the springs every 15k or so depending on usage and of course which cam you have.

You are going to put huge heads on a car with a 'small' cam? Bigger isn't always better. Get the AFR 205s and put in the same cam (or similar) to the one Tony's running.

I say AFR 225 and MS3, with 4:10 gear and a 150 shot you'll be flying

Yeah, I didn't even catch that. Why are you so set on the AFR 225's if you're wanting a smaller cam. If you get those heads I'd suggest getting a cam similar in size to the MS3 as suggested above. That would be a great combo.

I never said any thing about a small cam. If I am going to put a cam in my car I will put a big one with big heads. I like to leave myself with no room to go bigger. That is why I want the 225's. I was leaning towards lg x3 or x4, ttp equilizer or the f-15 ron jeremy. i just was asking which big cam is pretty easy on springs from those who have had experience with them.

We kinda thought small based on your "excellent drivability" clause. Leaving no room to go bigger on a cam isn't generally thought of as excellent drivability. MS3 is a nice cam.

Are the AFR 225 62cc out?? otherwise you would have top mill the 72 cc a good .036 just to get a 66cc chamber. That alone will eat a little flow.
More and you'll flycut on a huge cam.
G5X3 with 205's and flycut have been making some awsome power. I don't see the point of running a big H/C without at least 11.0:1 SCR and that requires flycutting.
