Default (NEWB)Help Please!!!what type of engine is this?

what type of engine is this?
i needed to rebuild my ls1 in my 98 z28.
some guy wants to sell me this engine.
he says it's ls1, but look a little different than mine.
alternator has a high hook up.
let me know what u think.

it looks like an LS1 but its hard to tell from the pictures

Maybe it's out of a truck (5.3 liter) aren't the alternators high mount on those?
Any chance of better/bigger pics?

whats the diff between ls1 truck shortblock and camaro ls1 shortblock?
he's trying to sell me the short block and put the rest of my engine on it.
i really need help

which short block; 4.8, 5.3, or lq4 or lq9 (6.0's)

It does look gen III. I really can't tell if it is my eyes playing tricks on me with the picture size/quality, but that looks like a truck manifold. For a brief period, if I remember right, there were actual 5.7 ls1s in some trucks. I could be wrong on that one though. However, make sure you aren't dropping a 4.8 in your car. How dissapointing would that be...

that is not an aluminum block either.at least it doesnt look like it with that rusty color.
