Default MPP2 Power Plates

I bought the MPP2 Power plates for my cutouts and i want to wire the red wire to the light thats in the ash tray. Does that sound like a good idea? My switch and LED is in the ash tray and i figured that i should just wire it there since its closer than connecting it to a fuse.... Oh yeah and the light in the ash tray stays on the whole time the car is on. Or am i wrong? Help...............

Also, where is an ideal place to ground the black wire?

I dont want to have too much wire cause i wouldnt want the battery to drain......

I have a mpp2 and this is how I wired mine:
I spliced the power wire to the most accessible pink (switched 12v) wire I could find under the dash and wired the ground to the bolt on the driver's side that holds the console on. The switch/LED are also in the ashtray.
Yes, the light in the ashtray always stays on. Hope this helps.

my '99 T/A has an unused group of about 5 wires under the center console, in front of the shifter. there is a red wire that is a 12V+ IGN switched power source. I don't know what circuit it's on so you'd probably want to figure that out.

Are you talking about the wires with the harness?

Thanks.
