just curious if anyone has tried to do a full 6.0 hummer/escalade/silverado swap in an fbody? What kind of problems did you run into etc..

Yes, it has been done. People use the block mostly, the actual engine from one of those other vehicles isn't all that great as is.

yes, however its not worth it unless your stroke it up to a 408. everything bolts up except you have to tap a new hole for one of the alternator threads.

Isn't the 408 a 6.0 liter block with a 4.125" bore?

That is apparently the most common use of hte 6.0L block.

no. 4.030 bore and 4" stroke.

4.00 bore and 4.00 stroke equal 402ci.

a 4.125 bore and 4.00" stroke will give you a 427

4.125 is safe on a 6.0L, no?

no. 4.060 is about all you will get naturally out of a 6.0, but I would sonic test the block to do that.

I just finished up swapping a 6.0 from an '04 Escalade bored .060 over with forged bottom end and a 244/248 cam into my '99. It went pretty much without a hitch. Everything bolts up just like JRP said except for the tapping of another bolt hole for the alternator. Although, one thing I did find annoying was the lack of threaded holes on each side of the motor under the heads to ground wires like the 5.7 aluminum block had. It ain't no big deal, just kind of annoying to find new grounds that the existing wires can stretch to.

Well I bought the shortblock as I described it from someone on the board. Then I purchased some brand new LQ9 heads along with the PRC dual spring kit and some Cometic head gaskets (big bucks). There was some other smaller stuff like header gaskets, oil, coolant, plugs, etc. that is always thrown into the mix. But after all was said and done, I did all this for a good amount under 5k.

Was it worth it? Well, my old block was having some problems and I didn't want to rebuild it. So, I decided to take advantage of the situation and just go with a better new block. I'm not sure I would have done this swap if I had not messed up my old block but I am so incredibly happy that I went this route. Nonetheless, isn't more HP always worth it

It adds about 80 pounds, nothing too severe. I don't even really notice a difference.
