Default Comp XE-R 224/.581/114 cam

I currently have a TR220/.553/114 cam with stock heads and bolt-ons, and was wondering:
1. How much power I would pick up with tuning by swapping to the Comp XE-R 224º/.581"/114º cam.
2. What would the effect on low end torque be?
3. What are the effects of grinding in advance?

This is what the car is putting down with the 220: http://chuckb.1le.net/01_trans_am/images/dyno_380.jpg

Uh oh. Sounds like someone is thinking about moving up. If you wanna drive mine, give me a shout. I'll let you drive it around at lunch or whatever.

How far of a step up do you want to make? Also what are the current mods on your car? Reason why I ask, I run that cam but it is only 20 HP more on my setup with stage 2 heads and 1-7/8 headers. Just wondering what you are trying to get out of the cam swap at this point. Personally I want to go larger than this cam, never happy are we!

Chris, which day are you going to let me buy you lunch? I am more interested in feeling the T2R than the cam, but yes, now that I am once again the low powered LS1 in the group I am thinking about a cam swap.

derty, it's not like I have a number in mind (OK, 1 hp more than Chris), but if I can pick up power up top without losing anthing down to 2K (autox needs low end torque), then I am interested. The mods are the car are here.

Give me a call when you are going to be at the close office. I'm not on call for the next month, so any day is fine. Just give me a few hours notice.

I think the 224 is really not going to be that much of a change from what you have. If you can do it, go a little larger. The 224 is nice and has a lot of kick, but it starts at about 3500 to 4000 and carries all the way to the rev limiter. You may want to do something to bring the torque curve up even more, I don't think the 224 is going to give you a huge difference. Just my take.
