Preload for Comp lifters? What should it be?

Where is the newbie forum

I have the normal Comp replacement lifters (not the R) to go with my 224 cam and Jesel SS rockers and now I need to buy pushrods. I can just bolt down my rockers and use an adjustable pushrod to measure the length but shouldn't there be a specific pre-load on the lifters? I looked on the Comp site and there is no info! Also, do I need to soak the lifters in something before I install them?

The preload in that lifter is the same as stock. It's not as ticky as the Pro Mag lifter. I would suggest between .030" and .080" preload.

Thanks for the answer. So a stock GM LS1 lifter should be pre-loaded at .030-.080? I can't find this spec in any of my manuals. Is there an advantage to running them slightly looser or tighter?
