Oil professional/nerds inside What do you recommend better the 5w40 Belgium Castrol, or the 0w30 German Castrol? This is what is availabel to me at local stores. How do they compare to the 0w40 German castrol I see everyone else talking about
0W-40 is only going to make a slight difference if you lived in a VERY hot climate. Although my claim to OIL fame is from switching 5W-30 Dino. oil to 0W-30 Mobil 1 and
gaining .10 at the track, I doubt you will see any differnce between those 2.

The 0w30 Castrol is the better one. The 0w40 Castrol is not sold in North America, except at some BMW dealers but it's ridiculously high priced. In Europe and Australia the 0w40 Castrol Formula R is quite plentiful though.
If you can't find the 0w30 Castrol, the 5w40 is a great alternative.

If you want to run a lightwieght oil i suggest using Motul 300V, its a little more expensive, but alot better than the group 4 oils ( mobil, castrol, etc.)

Castro 0w-30 has also shown very low wear numbers. It is a heavy 30wt, almost a 40wt.
