High oil pressure?
High oil pressure? Well, I have seen a bunch of threads about this. Before I changed my oil, the pressure was low. Which I thought was kind of odd since I am using fully synthetic. I thought synthetic doesn't break down like typical oil?
Anyway, I put in about 5.5 quarts of Mobil 1 5w30. At idle the car is fine, running just over 40psi. Before I even reach 6k on the tach, the pressure is nearly 80psi. My pressure has never gone this high when winding out the gears. Why would this oil change cause the pressure to rise so much? Also, is high pressure bad for the engine or do our cars have some sort of blowoff valve if the pressure gets too high?

The water temp is around 210 like it always is. I have no idea what the oil temp is since the car doesn't have a guage for that. I don't bring my car near redline when the engine isn't up to temperature.
