Default Lost oil pressure....where to start

Took my car for a little ride today and I started losing oil pressure and then finally done to 0. Car was running good with no odd ball noises. I'm pretty scared right now. What all should I check? Thanks for any help.

I'd start with oil level, oil filter, sender.

hate to say it but if it dropped gradually its probably the oil level (leak somewhere) or the pump

Oil level is fine. I checked before I left and it's still the same. Trip was only about 15 miles total. I did some searching on here and it's sounding like the pump is a good possibility. The engine only has about 2000 miles on it but the new engine (gunk) could be plugging the pump up.

Gunk? Either your pump took died or you need to see if the O ring on the oil pickup tube broke. Good Luck

IIRC in the owners manual it says to check the oil when the engine is warm. when you check the level on a cold engine it will read higher than the actual recommended running fluid level (if that makes any sense, i couldnt figure a good way to say it). just a thought, good luck!

Could be the pump? You say it has been rebuilt. What kind of machine work was done, if any at all. I had a worn out engine with too much bearing/rod clearance loose pressure at idle but only when the engine was hot. Though i have had pumps do the same thing. There shouldnt be any type of new engine gunk causing the problem, maybe some moly lube discoloration!

The pressure was fine then it kept gradually getting lower until it finally hit zero. I'd say it drop about 10psi a mile coming home.
